Ashwini Kumar becomes first Indian to take four-wicket haul on IPL debut

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians’ debutant Ashwini Kumar created history at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday by becoming the first Indian bowler to take a four-wicket haul on his IPL debut.

Ashwini struck with his very first ball, dismissing Ajinkya Rahane, before going on to claim the wickets of Rinku Singh, Manish Pandey, and Andre Russell.

He finished with figures of 4 for 24 in three overs, dismantling Kolkata Knight Riders’ batting lineup.

With this performance, Ashwini has recorded the best debut by an Indian bowler in IPL history. He also became only the sixth bowler overall in the 17-year history of the league to take four or more wickets on debut.
