Awaiting return of 69 Indian nationals from Russian army: Jaishankar
New Delhi: During question hour in the Lok Sabha here, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday said the government is awaiting the return of 69 Indians recruited in the Russian Army.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the External Affairs Minister said the government has taken serious note of the issues of cyber crime trafficking of citizens in Southeast Asian countries, including recruitment of Indian nationals into the Russian Army.
He said that in many cases, there have been indications that Indian nationals were misled into joining the Russian Army.
A total of 91 cases of recruitment of Indian nationals in the Russian Army have been reported so far. Eight of them have died, 14 have been discharged or sent back and 69 citizens are awaiting their return, Jaishankar said during question hour.
