“Be more careful”: EC told Rahul Gandhi over remarks against PM Modi
New Delhi: The Election Commission has advised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak thoughtfully among the public. Rahul had used terms like ‘panauti’ and ‘pickpockets’ for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Acting on the direction of the Delhi High Court in December last year, the poll panel told Rahul Gandhi, “You should properly follow your recent advice for star campaigners and political leaders during election campaigns.” This case dates back to November 2023.
Rahul Gandhi made these remarks during election meetings in Baytu of Barmer and Vallabhnagar of Udaipur in Rajasthan, stating, ‘PM means – Panauti Modi.’
Following this statement, the Election Commission deemed it a violation of the code of conduct and sought an explanation from him.
