BJP attacks Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on democracy, Congress hits back
New Delhi: After the Lok Sabha, the issue of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement in London echoed in the Rajya Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, BJP leader Piyush Goyal raised the issue of Rahul Gandhi’s statement and demanded an apology from the Congress leader.
Piyush Goyal said, “In a shameful way, an opposition leader went abroad and insulted India’s judiciary, army, Election Commission and the House. The opposition leader has made false allegations.”
He should come to the House and apologize to the people of the country.
Referring to the Emergency, Piyush Goyal said that democracy was threatened when Emergency was imposed in the country.
After the attack on Rahul Gandhi by a BJP leader, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge came out in his defense. “I condemn the remarks made against those who are not members of this House,” Kharge said.
Kharge accused Piyush Goyal of presenting Rahul Gandhi’s speech in his own way and said that democracy is in danger under BJP rule.
