BKU calls emergency panchayat in Muzaffarnagar over protest against Rakesh Tikait

Muzaffarnagar: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has called an emergency kisan panchayat in Muzaffarnagar on Saturday after a section of people protested against the participation of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait in a rally against the Pahalgam terror attack.
BKU national president Naresh Tikait announced that the panchayat would be held at GIC ground in Muzaffarnagar to discuss the incident. He alleged that the disruption at the ‘Akrosh rally’ was a political conspiracy aimed at weakening the farmers’ movement.
On Friday, Rakesh Tikait reportedly faced protests at a rally organised by right-wing groups, where his turban was allegedly tossed and he was asked to leave the venue. The incident drew strong reactions from the farming community.
Naresh Tikait said farmers from across the region had begun assembling in Sisauli and Muzaffarnagar ahead of the panchayat.
“This is a conspiracy hatched by a particular political party to suppress the voice of farmers. Some youths were deliberately sent to disrupt the rally,” he claimed.
