BKU leader, son and brother shot dead in UP village

Fatehpur: Panic spread through Akhri village on Tuesday after a Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader, his son, and brother were shot dead following a quarrel that escalated into a fatal confrontation.

The deceased have been identified as Pappu Singh (50), the district president of the BKU, his son Abhay Singh (22), and his younger brother Pinku Singh (45), police said.

Inspector General of Police Prem Kumar Gautam said the incident began with a verbal spat after former village head Suresh Kumar alias Munnu asked Pappu Singh to move his tractor, which was blocking the road.

The situation turned violent when Suresh Kumar’s sons and their accomplices intervened and allegedly opened indiscriminate fire, killing the three on the spot.

Gautam said he would visit the village to assess the situation. A senior police official added that Suresh Kumar and his sons, who reportedly had an old political rivalry with the victims, have been taken into custody.
