Body of youth found on Churadhar track in Himachal Pradesh
Nahan: The body of a youth, buried under snow and badly mutilated, was found on the Churadhar track in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, officials said on Tuesday. A team of local volunteers spotted the body on Monday evening.
The volunteers suspect the body could be that of Akshaya Sahni (28), a resident of Panchkula, Haryana, who went missing on February 26 while trekking to Churadhar peak on Mahashivratri.
According to volunteers from the Nohradhar area, the body was found near the idol of Lord Shiva, close to the last resting place on the track. They noted that no other trekker had been reported missing in the Churadhar area in recent months.
Sangrah Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sunil Kaith said the administration has not yet confirmed the identity of the body. However, the youth’s parents have been informed and are on their way to Sangrah for identification.
Churadhar peak, one of the highest in the Shivalik range, is located at an altitude of 11,965 feet in Sirmaur district.
