Brothers clash over funeral of father, nearly cut body in two for separate cremations in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi: A dispute over funeral rites in Tal Lidhaura village, Tikamgarh district, led to police intervention after two brothers clashed over performing their father’s last rites.

Dhyani Singh Ghosh, 85, a resident of Shyamkrishna Colony, passed away, prompting his younger son, Damodar, to begin funeral preparations.

However, his elder son, Kishan Singh Ghosh, arrived with his family, demanding his right to participate in the rites despite not having cared for his father during his final days.

The disagreement escalated, with Kishan even suggesting dividing the body for separate rites. Alarmed villagers informed the police, who intervened to defuse tensions.

After consulting family members and villagers, Jatara police station in-charge Arvind Singh Dangi allowed Damodar to proceed with the funeral, as he had cared for his father.

Kishan was advised to cooperate, and the rites were completed peacefully within six hours.
