Calcutta High Court quashes 2016 teachers’ recruitment
New Delhi: The Mamta Banerjee government of West Bengal has received a major setback from the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court has canceled the 2016 teacher recruitment case.
The Calcutta High Court on Monday declared the selection process of the West Bengal government-aided State Selection Test-2016 (SLST) in schools as null and void and ordered cancellation of all appointments made through it.
A division bench of Justices Debangshu Basak and Mohammed Shabbar Rashidi directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct further investigation with regard to the appointment process and submit a report within three months.
The bench also directed the West Bengal School Service Commission to start a fresh appointment process. Over 23 lakh candidates had appeared for the 2016 SLST exam to fill 24,640 vacancies.
