Captain martyred, 4 terrorists killed in encounter in J&K’s Doda district
Jammu: An Army captain was martyred and four militants were killed in an ongoing search operation in the high-altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district today, officials said.
Security forces and police launched a cordon and search operation in the area to track down the militants hiding in the Shivgarh-Assar belt, during which an encounter broke out between the two in a dense forest area, the officials said.
A civilian was also injured in the firing, which took place a day before Independence Day. Officials said four blood-soaked bags were recovered from the encounter site.
M-4 carbines have also been recovered. The terrorists are hiding on the banks of the river in Assar, officials said.
