Case filed over social media post gathering support for farmers’ protest

New Delhi: Police in Gautam Budh Nagar have registered an FIR against a man for allegedly posting a video on social media to mobilize crowds for a farmers’ protest, violating prohibitory orders in the district.

Officials said Section 163 of the BNS, which bans assemblies and processions of five or more people, has been imposed in the area due to the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

According to a complaint by Sub-Inspector Krishan Kumar Yadav, a video by Atul Kumar Yadav, a resident of Behlolpur village, was circulating widely on social media, urging people to gather for the protest. The complaint was filed on Friday night after the video came to the police’s attention, said Police Station In-Charge Avdhesh Pratap Singh.

A case has been registered against Atul Kumar Yadav, and efforts are underway to locate him.
