Centre announces five new districts in Ladakh
New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the creation of five new districts of Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang in Ladakh.
With this decision, the number of districts in this Union Territory (UT) has increased to seven. Its home ministry has ordered the UT administration to form a committee to evaluate various aspects related to the new districts.
The committee will assess the headquarters, demarcation, structure and other aspects related to the formation of the districts of the newly announced districts and submit its report within three months.
After the committee’s report, the Union Territory of Ladakh will send a final proposal to the Union Home Ministry for further action on the basis of this report
