Centre stops probe into Moosewala’s mother giving birth by IVF technology

New Delhi: The central government has stopped the investigation into the birth of a child through IVF treatment in the UK by Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur. An inquiry was conducted by the Ministry of Health regarding the child’s birth, and a report was requested.

The Punjab government and opposition parties also criticized the central government over this issue. Now, the Center has halted the investigation process in this matter.

The Center argues that since the IVF treatment was conducted in the UK, there is no need for further investigation in this matter. Although Charan Kaur gave birth to the child in India, all the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedures were carried out in London, England.

Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, said that the health department questioned him only once, and thereafter, no further inquiries were made.

Charan Kaur gave birth to a baby boy on March 17 at a hospital in Bathinda. Balkaur Singh and his wife Charan Kaur traveled to the UK in November 2022.

The absence of age restrictions for women undergoing IVF in the UK is cited as the reason for the government’s decision to halt the investigation.
