Centre to hold sixth round of talks with protesting farmers on February 14
New Delhi: Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur informed the Lok Sabha today that the Centre has invited farmer leaders from Punjab and Haryana for a fresh round of talks on February 14.
The discussions are part of ongoing negotiations with protesting farmers over their demands.
In a written reply, Thakur stated that during last month’s talks, the government proposed a five-year plan to procure certain crops at the minimum support price (MSP).
However, no consensus was reached on all demands. He added that the farmers’ demands are currently pending before the Supreme Court, which has formed a committee to examine the matter.
The government had initiated talks with the farmers on February 8, followed by discussions on February 12, 15, 18, and January 18. However, key issues remain unresolved.
