CJI forms panel to probe allegations against Delhi High Court’s Justice Yashwant Verma
New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has constituted a three-member committee to investigate allegations against Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma.
The committee includes Justice Sheel Nagu of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice G.S. Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, and Justice Anu Sivaraman of the Karnataka High Court.
CJI Khanna has also directed Delhi High Court Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyay to refrain from assigning any judicial work to Justice Verma for the time being.
The decision follows a report submitted by Justice Upadhyay regarding the alleged recovery of cash from Justice Verma’s official residence during a fire incident on March 14.
Justice Upadhyay had initiated an internal inquiry to gather evidence and submitted his findings on Friday.
