Comedian Jaspreet Singh faces complaint for obscene language in show
Chandigarh: Comedian Jaspreet Singh is facing backlash after Chandigarh professor Pandit Dharenwar Rao lodged a complaint against him with SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami, accusing him of using abusive and obscene language during his appearance on ‘India’s Got Talent.’
The complaint alleges that Singh’s actions tarnish the image of Sikhs and violate Sikh cultural values.
Prof Rao outlined three main concerns in his complaint:
1. Jaspreet Singh’s use of offensive language, despite being a turbaned Sikh, insults the Sikh community.
2. Obscene language on OTT and digital platforms negatively influences teenagers.
3. Such behavior contradicts Sikh cultural principles.
Prof Rao, known for his advocacy against alcohol and gun culture in Punjabi music, previously secured a High Court order on this issue.
The controversy follows recent criticism of YouTuber Ranbir Allahbadia’s show. Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi condemned the content, describing it as highly inappropriate and expressing concern over its impact on viewers.
