Congress names Priyanka Gandhi as candidate for Wayanad by-election
New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been chosen as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Wayanad by-election, scheduled for November 13.
The by-election follows the vacating of the seat by her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who had won both Wayanad (Kerala) and Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh) in the previous Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi chose to retain Rae Bareli, leaving Wayanad open.
The Election Commission announced the by-election date today, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy, according to an official party statement.
