Court of Arbitration for Sports will pronounce its verdict on the appeal of Vinesh Phogat today by 9:30 pm

New Delhi: The Arbitration Court for Sports (CAS) will pronounce its verdict on the appeal filed by Indian woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat at 9.30 pm Indian time on Saturday.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for India, represented Vinesh. Wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified for being overweight (over 100 grams) ahead of the final of the 50kg weight category.

Vinesh had challenged the decision in the arbitration court and appealed for the silver medal jointly with Cuban wrestler Y. Guzman Lopez.

The hearing on Phogat’s appeal in the arbitration court was completed late on Friday night. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had hoped for a positive solution to the issue.
