COVID-19 cases rise in Delhi-NCR and Thane; health officials urge caution

New Delhi: The number of new COVID-19 cases in India has started to rise again, with 27 infections reported in the Delhi-NCR region and 10 in Maharashtra’s Thane district.

According to health officials, 23 cases have been reported in Delhi, two in Faridabad, and one in Noida. In Faridabad district, a 25-year-old man from Lakdapur Dayalbagh and a 33-year-old man from Gurugram tested positive. In Wazirabad, 45 individuals have been found to be COVID-19 positive, while in Noida, a 55-year-old woman has been placed under home quarantine after testing positive.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said that private laboratories in the capital detected 23 COVID-19 cases as of May 22. He added that the government is investigating whether the cases involve local residents or people commuting from outside the city.

“There is no need to panic,” Singh said, assuring that the Delhi government is fully prepared to manage the situation. He added that all 23 patients in Delhi are in stable condition.

The health department has issued an advisory to hospitals, instructing them to remain prepared for any potential rise in cases.

Meanwhile, in Thane city of Maharashtra, 10 cases have been reported over the past three days, prompting authorities to alert local hospitals.
