Defence ministry approves major procurement proposals worth Rs 1.44 lakh crore

New Delhi: In a significant boost to the Indian Armed Forces, the Defence Ministry has approved a series of procurement proposals aimed at modernizing the Army’s capabilities. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared 10 proposals worth Rs 1,44,716 crore under the Acceptance of Necessity (AON) procedure.

Among the key procurements are future-ready combat vehicles (FRCVs) for upgrading the Army’s tank fleet and advanced air defence fire control radars.

The ministry’s statement also highlighted the deployment of Dornier-228 aircraft and the acquisition of a next-generation patrol fleet featuring high operational capabilities.

These advancements are set to enhance India’s defense preparedness and operational readiness.
