Delhi Finance Minister Atishi seeks Rs 10,000 crore from Centre
New Delhi: Delhi Finance Minister Atishi has sought Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre for infrastructure development, claiming that despite paying income tax of Rs 2 lakh crore last year, Delhi has not got any benefit.
“Delhi has contributed Rs 25,000 crore as GST to the central tax. Advocating the release of the amount before the annual budget of the Central government, she said the amount could be spent on beautification of the city besides roads, transport and power sector infrastructure.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Delhi unit secretary Harish Khurana hit back, accusing the minister of lying on the issue. Khurana claimed that the Centre had given Rs 4,258 crore to the Delhi government in 2015, which increased to Rs 11,945 crore in 2022.
