Delhi HC to hear Jagdish Tytler’s plea on November 29
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday deferred the hearing on a plea filed by Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who is challenging a trial court’s order related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in which charges were framed against him. These charges include murder, unlawful assembly, rioting and promoting enmity.
A bench headed by Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri posted the matter for further hearing on November 29 this year. The court noted that some statements in the matter are not on record, and no formal notice has been issued in the matter so far.
During the hearing, senior advocate H.S. Phoolka appeared and opposed the petition filed by Jagdish Tytler. Special public prosecutor Anupam Sharma, representing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), also opposed the plea.
The two lawyers challenged the trial court’s decision to frame charges against Tytler for his alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Senior advocate Arvind Nigam, representing Jagdish Tytler, moved the court through the orders of the trial court and statements of witnesses in the case. The lawyers argued to challenge the framing of charges against Tytler in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
