Delhi High Court grants custodial parole to jailed J&K MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh for Parliament session
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has granted jailed Jammu and Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, also known as Rashid Engineer, a two-day custodial parole to attend the ongoing budget session of Parliament.
Justice Vikas Mahajan, while delivering the verdict, ruled that Rashid could attend the Lok Sabha proceedings on February 11 and 13.
Under custodial parole, Rashid will be escorted to Parliament by armed police personnel and returned to jail after the session. The court imposed restrictions, including a ban on using a mobile phone or addressing the media.
Security arrangements inside Parliament will be coordinated with the Lok Sabha Secretary General.
Rashid, the Lok Sabha member from Baramulla, is currently in jail in connection with a terror funding case linked to allegations of financing separatists and terror groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
The court had reserved its order on his parole on February 7.
