Delhi LG sanctions prosecution of Booker Prize-winning author Arundhati Roy under UAPA
New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has given sanction to prosecute eminent writer Arundhati Roy and a former professor of the Central University of Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for allegedly making inflammatory speeches during an event here in 2010.
An FIR was registered on October 28, 2010, against Roy and Sheikh Shaukat Hussain, a former professor of the Central University of Kashmir, on the complaint of Kashmir-based social activist Sushil Pandit following orders of a metropolitan magistrate’s court in New Delhi, Raj Bhavan officials said.
