Delhi mayor’s election today, voting for standing committee will be held
New Delhi: Voting will be held today to elect the mayor and deputy mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Apart from the mayor and deputy mayor, voting will also be held for six members of the standing committee.
Earlier, three meetings have been held to elect the mayor, deputy mayor and standing committee members.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recommendation to convene a municipal house. Earlier, the House of the Municipal Corporation was stalled thrice due to the ruckus following differences between the members of the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.
The House was earlier convened on January 6, January 25 and February 6.
