Delhi Police registers FIR against Arvind Kejriwal over alleged misuse of public funds

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday informed a court that an FIR has been registered against former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and others for allegedly misusing public money by putting up large hoardings across the national capital in 2019.

The police disclosed this in a compliance report submitted before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal.

The court had directed the police on March 11 to file an FIR based on a complaint alleging violations of the Prevention of Damage to Property Act. After seeking time for investigation, the police said the matter has been scheduled for further hearing on April 18.

Along with Kejriwal, the FIR also names former MLA Gulab Singh and former Dwarka councillor Nitika Sharma. The 2019 complaint accused them of misusing public funds to install large-scale hoardings in various locations.
