Delhi recorded highest pollution among major Indian cities in winter 2024-25: Report
New Delhi: Delhi was the most polluted major city in India during the winter of 2024-25, followed by Kolkata, according to a report by the Center for Science and Environment. The average PM2.5 concentration in Delhi was recorded at 175 micrograms per cubic meter.
However, pollution levels in the national capital declined compared to the previous winter, when the PM2.5 concentration stood at 189 micrograms per cubic meter.
The report also noted that while PM2.5 levels decreased in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata, they remained unchanged in Chennai and Hyderabad.
During the winter of 2024-25, the average PM2.5 concentration was recorded at 52 micrograms per cubic meter in Hyderabad, 50 in Mumbai, 37 in Bengaluru, and 36 in Chennai.
