Dera Sacha Sauda chief gets parole

Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted parole by the Haryana government, subject to certain conditions. Meanwhile, the Dera chief will not be able to campaign for any party in the Haryana Assembly elections or seek votes through social media.

It is to be noted that the Dera chief had sought parole for 20 days just before the Haryana Assembly elections, after which the Haryana government had sent the matter to the Election Commission for consideration and today the Election Commission has granted parole to the Dera chief under conditions. The Dera chief is serving a jail term in a rape case.
