Diljit Dosanjh responds to online trolling over ‘Panjab’ spelling and flag controversy
Mumbai: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh faced online criticism today for spelling Punjab as “Panjab” in a tweet and for not including the Indian tricolour in the post. In response, Dosanjh dismissed the trolling as a “conspiracy” and criticized detractors as “idle.”
Addressing the controversy, Dosanjh tweeted: “If you don’t mention the flag in a tweet, it’s called a conspiracy. My Bengaluru tweet didn’t have a flag either. Whether it’s written as Punjab or Panjab, it’s all the same. The Panj Ab-5 Rivers define our land. Salute to those using foreign languages to spin conspiracy theories.”
He further announced that he would write Punjab in Gurmukhi script going forward, adding: “I know you won’t stop, so keep at it. How many times must we prove our love for India? Do something new, or is plotting against me your assigned task? #ਵਿਹਲੇ.”
Dosanjh also shared screenshots of his previous posts to support his statement.
The singer is currently on his ‘Dil-Luminati India Tour,’ which started in New Delhi on October 26 and is set to conclude in Guwahati on December 29. His next performance is scheduled in Mumbai on December 19.
