Diljit Dosanjh shares glimpses of ‘Punjab 95,’ sparks release speculations
Mumbai: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has shared pictures from his much-anticipated film Punjab 95 on social media, fueling speculation about its release in theaters next month.
The film, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, is directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under RSVP Movies.
The release of Punjab 95 was reportedly delayed due to censorship issues. Apart from Dosanjh, the cast includes Arjun Rampal and Kohra fame Suvinder Vicky.
The movie was initially slated to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, but it was dropped without explanation.
Sharing the photos on Instagram, Dosanjh, who recently concluded his ‘Dil-Luminati India Tour,’ stirred excitement among fans.
Jaswant Singh Khalra is remembered for exposing the secret cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab between 1984 and 1994. In 1995, Khalra was abducted, and in 2005, four police officers were convicted of his kidnapping and murder.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court later commuted their sentences to life imprisonment in 2007.
