Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Punjab-95’ to skip India release, set for international debut
Mumbai: The much-anticipated film ‘Punjab-95,’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, will not be released in India.
Khalra was known for his efforts to expose atrocities against Sikhs in Punjab during the 1980s and 1990s.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had reportedly demanded 120 cuts in the film, a condition rejected by the filmmakers and Khalra’s family. As a result, the decision was made to withhold the film from Indian theaters.
The film, however, is scheduled for release on February 7 in Australia, the UK, Canada, and the US. Sharing the release date on social media, Diljit Dosanjh posted, “Full movie, no cuts,” confirming the film will be screened internationally without any alterations.
