Dr Ambedkar visited RSS ‘shakha’ in 1940, claims Sangh’s media wing
Nagpur: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, visited a ‘shakha’ (branch) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Maharashtra 85 years ago, the Sangh’s media wing claimed on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Vidarbha Prant of the Vishwa Samvad Kendra (VSK), the RSS’s communication wing, Ambedkar had expressed his admiration for the organisation during the visit despite differing on certain issues.
The statement quoted Ambedkar as saying that he “looks at the Sangh with a sense of love.”
The RSS media wing said the organisation has faced numerous challenges over the years, including being banned three times, but it has consistently maintained its identity as a social organisation.
Allegations of the RSS being anti-Dalit were dismissed as baseless, the statement added.
The VSK also referred to a newly surfaced document that it claims sheds light on the relationship between Ambedkar and the RSS, countering previous allegations and misinformation about their association.
