Dr Manmohan Singh’s contribution will always be remembered, says PM Modi
New Delhi: PM Modi delivered an emotional address on the occasion of the departure of 56 MPs from the Rajya Sabha. During this address, PM Modi extended good luck wishes to all the MPs for their future endeavors and also acknowledged their contributions.
Additionally, PM Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for his contributions to the Rajya Sabha.
PM Modi emphasized that the House receives a fresh injection of vitality every two years, implying that farewells every two years are not definitive goodbyes. Instead, departing members leave behind invaluable memories that serve as a legacy for new parliamentarians.
He specifically mentioned Dr. Manmohan Singh’s remarkable contributions, highlighting his six-fold impact with invaluable ideas, guiding the House and the nation over an extended period. Despite ideological differences and transient debates, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s enduring guidance resonates profoundly.
PM Modi expressed confidence that any discussion about members of the House would invariably include Dr. Manmohan Singh due to his remarkable talents displayed during his tenure.
Illustrating Dr. Manmohan Singh’s commitment to responsibility, PM Modi recounted an incident where, despite knowing his single vote wouldn’t sway the outcome due to the ruling party’s majority, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in a wheelchair, personally cast his vote, demonstrating exemplary conscientiousness.
PM Modi concluded by citing another instance where Dr. Manmohan Singh, again in a wheelchair, participated in committee member elections, reinforcing the message of dedicated service and participation in parliamentary processes.
