Drug trend rose in Haryana post-2021 farmers’ agitation, claims BJP
Chandigarh: BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana, Ram Chandra Jangra, has alleged that the trend of drug abuse has significantly risen in Haryana since the 2021 farmers’ agitation.
Speaking at a gathering in Meham, Rohtak district, Jangra claimed, “Earlier, drug addiction in Haryana was limited to smoking and alcohol consumption. After 2021, drugs like heroin and smack have infiltrated villages. Where did they come from?”
Jangra also alleged that approximately 700 women went missing during the protests at Delhi’s Singhu and Tikri borders against the now-repealed farm laws. “No one knows where those women went,” he said.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher dismissed Jangra’s remarks while speaking to reporters at the Shambhu border. Pandher challenged Jangra to cite evidence of FIRs lodged regarding the alleged missing women and questioned why the MP remained silent on the matter for so long.
In a later clarification, Jangra said that his comments were not aimed at farmers but at the broader societal impact of the 2021 agitation.
