ED summons case: Kejriwal appears before court via video conferencing, gets relief from personal appearance

New Delhi: A court here on Saturday exempted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from personal appearance in the court in connection with a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Enforcement Directorate in its complaint had said that Kejriwal was not complying with the summons sent to it in a money laundering case related to excise policy.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra granted the relief to Kejriwal after the AAP leader appeared before the court through video conferencing and sought exemption from personal appearance for the day.

Kejriwal told the court that the Delhi Assembly is in session and hence he cannot appear before the court.

Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta, appearing for Kejriwal, told the court that the Delhi Chief Minister will appear in person on the next date. The court posted the matter for further hearing on March 16.
