Farmers’ march to Delhi halted by Haryana Police; barricades torn down

New Delhi: Farmers marching towards Delhi clashed with Haryana Police at the Shambhu border on Wednesday. The farmers dismantled two layers of barricades, cutting through wires and throwing them into the Ghaggar river, but were stopped by security forces.

In a tense standoff, police warned the protesters not to advance further. Earlier, a jatha (group) of farmers began their march from the Shambhu border, determined to press forward despite heavy police deployment.

In Ambala district, Section 144 has been imposed to prevent large gatherings. Hospitals have been placed on high alert, with doctors’ leave canceled and additional wards set up. Ambulances have been stationed, and some schools in the region have been closed as a precaution.

At the border, police have stationed numerous vehicles and roadways buses to block the marchers.
