Farmers protest enters 14-day; SKM’s Tractor March today

New Delhi: Today marks the 14th day of the farmers’ protest. The farmers have decided to postpone their march to Delhi until February 29. However, they continue to camp at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders of Punjab-Haryana.

On Monday, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will organize tractor marches across the country in solidarity with the farmers. Simultaneously, farmers involved in the movement will burn effigies of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Earlier, on Sunday, the farmers hinted at the possibility of talks with the Centre. Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) coordinator Saravana Pandher stated at the Shambhu border, “The government is taking steps to reopen the border and restore internet services. In this conducive atmosphere, meaningful dialogue can take place.”

Jagjit Dallewal, president of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (a non-political organization), emphasized the need for the government to take action against those who resort to violence against farmers.

He stressed that measures should be taken against individuals who trespass into Punjab, assault farmers, and damage their property, including tractors.
