Farmers’ protest: Murder case registered against unidentified persons in Shubhakaran’s death case
Chandigarh: The Punjab Police have registered a case of murder and abetment to crime against unidentified persons at Patara police station in Patiala in connection with the death of Shubhakaran, a young farmer from Bathinda, who was killed in a police clash at Khanauri border in Punjab.
After the consent of the farmers and family members, the post-mortem of Shubhkaran’s body was conducted at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala at 11 pm.
On Thursday morning, Shubhkaran’s body will be taken to Khanauri border. After paying tribute there, the body will be cremated in the native village in Bathinda.
The farmers demanded that an FIR be registered against Haryana Police and Home Minister Anil Vij; until then, the last rites will not be allowed to take place. Police have registered a case against unidentified persons.
Farmer leaders Tejvir Singh Panjokhra and Ranjit Singh Raju said that a delegation met his family on Wednesday in connection with the case of young farmer Shubhakaran. It included Satnam Singh Sahni and Jai Singh Balhera.
At the same time, a joint meeting of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) was held at Shambhu border on Wednesday. It was decided that the final decision on the Delhi march would be performed on Thursday.
In the press conference, farmer leaders Tejveer Singh Panjokhra and Ranjit Singh Raju said that the final announcement about the Delhi march would be made on Thursday morning.
