Farmers to burn effigy of BJP on Aug 1, hold tractor marches on Aug 15 across India
New Delhi: A joint conference of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha has announced plans to march towards district headquarters across the country on August 1 and burn effigies of the BJP. Additionally, it was decided to hold tractor marches at the district level nationwide on August 15.
Speaking to the media, farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher said that during the joint conference of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha held at the Constitution Club today, it was primarily decided that marches will be conducted towards district headquarters nationwide on August 1. These marches aim to support the Minimum Support Price Guarantee Act and call for awarding the President’s Medal to the officers responsible for killing the farmers. Effigies of the BJP will be burnt in protest.
It was also decided to hold a tractor march at the district level across the country on August 15 in support of the farmers’ agitation and to burn copies of the three new laws under the BNS. On August 31, to mark the completion of 200 days of Kisan Andolan-2, large mahapanchayats will be held at various kisan morchas, with three Kisan Mahapanchayats planned across the country.
The first mahapanchayat will be held on September 1 in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the second on September 15 at Uchana Mandi in Jind district, Haryana, and the third on September 22 at Pipli Mandi in Kurukshetra district, Haryana.
Meanwhile, Sarwan Singh Pandher urged the farmers to be prepared for the struggle. Other leaders were also present at the conference.
