Flag-lowering ceremony to resume at India-Pakistan border from May 20

Amritsar: The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced that the flag-lowering ceremony at the India-Pakistan border will resume on May 20, following the recent ceasefire and ongoing recovery efforts.

Officials said the general public is expected to be allowed to witness the ceremony starting May 21.

The ceremonial retreat had been suspended at key Punjab border points—Attari, Hussainiwala, and Sadki—prior to the conflict between India and Pakistan.

During the suspension, the national flag was lowered in a simple and respectful manner without the traditional display.

Previously, the ceremony had also been halted following a terror attack in Pahalgam. A BSF official confirmed that the retreat ceremony is now being restored and added that tourists will soon be permitted to attend the event.
