Former actress Mamta Kulkarni becomes Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara

New Delhi: Veteran Hindi cinema actress Mamta Kulkarni, known for her stellar performances in the 90s, has officially retired from showbiz. Recently, the 53-year-old announced her retirement at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Now, she has been appointed as the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, a significant development that has garnered widespread attention.

On Friday, Mamta performed the pind daan ritual at the Sangam banks in Prayagraj. Videos and pictures of the event, showing her adorned with Rudraksha beads and carrying a saffron bag, have gone viral on social media. She will now be known as Yamai Mamta Nand Giri.

Mamta’s transformation has surprised many and left some fans disappointed, as she will no longer be seen in film roles.

The actress, who began her career in 1992 with a small role in Tiranga, went on to star in notable films such as Ashant, Aashiq Awara, and Waqt Hamara Hai. Her performances in the 90s remain highly appreciated.

The former actress has been in the spotlight since joining the Mahakumbh, where she embraced a new spiritual journey as a sadhvi.
