Former Himachal MLA Bambar Thakur shot at in Bilaspur, security officer critical

Shimla: Congress leader and former MLA Bambar Thakur was shot at by unidentified assailants at his residence in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. The attackers opened fire, injuring Thakur and his personal security officer (PSO). Both were rushed to the hospital.

Thakur, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, has been referred to IGMC Shimla as per his request. His PSO, in critical condition, has been shifted to AIIMS Bilaspur. Officials said around 12 rounds were fired during the attack.

Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq visited the scene, while police have launched an investigation. The identities of the attackers remain unknown, and Thakur’s associates have not provided any details yet.

The incident has raised concerns, especially with a Congress-led government in the state.
