Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddiqui shot dead in Bandra

Mumbai: Baba Siddiqui, a former Maharashtra minister and leader of the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar, was shot dead near his son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office in Bandra East on Friday night.

The shooting occurred at around 9:30 PM in the Nirmal Nagar area, according to Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjit Singh Dahiya.

The assailants fired six bullets at Siddiqui under the cover of firecracker noise, with one striking his stomach. Siddiqui was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

The incident has raised serious security concerns, especially as Siddiqui had been assigned Y-category security just 15 days prior. Two suspects have been arrested, and further investigations are being carried out by the Crime Branch.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
