Former Punjab DGP and NIA chief Dinkar Gupta gets Z-plus security

New Delhi: The central government has decided to give Z-plus security to former National Investigation Agency (NIA) director Dinkar Gupta. This decision has been taken after the input received by security agencies.

He is threatened by Khalistani terrorists. He will get this security cover in Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi. This security cover was approved to them in March 2024 itself.

He retired in March this year. Dinkar Gupta is a 1987 batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre. He has held several positions in Punjab. In 2017, when the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh was formed in the state, he became the DGP of Punjab.

However, before the assembly elections, when Captain was removed and Charanjit Singh Channi was made the Chief Minister of Punjab by the Congress. After that Dinkar Gupta went on leave. He was retired as NIA chief.
