Government should denotify Gurdwara Act 1925 from Parliament before taking possession of Gurdwaras: Jathedar Harpreet Singh

Amritsar: Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh on Monday lashed out at the Haryana government for denotifying the Gurdwara Act, 1925, in Parliament before taking over gurdwaras.

He said that it was condemnable that the Haryana Police had arrested the Sikhs from the Gurdwara Sahib who prevented them from entering the gurdwara with shoes and occupying it.
The Jathedar said that if the Haryana government had to break the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and take over the gurdwaras with the force of the police, then before that, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s GurdwaraAct 1925 should be denotified in Parliament.
He said that the Sikh community will never tolerate the bullying by the Haryana Police.
