Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar apologises for violating Sikh decorum: SGPC
Chandigarh: SGPC principal advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has termed Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s standing barefoot in Sikh ardas as a violation of religious norms. He has asked CM Manohar Lal to apologize.
A video of Manohar Lal laying the foundation stone of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Charitable Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana, has surfaced on February 10.
In this video, he is seen standing without covering his head in ardas. Dhami said that Sikh decorum has been violated by CM Manohar Lal by doing so. This has hurt the religious sentiments of The Sikhs.
Sikh Ardas has a dignity, under which every person involved in the ardas stands with respect with a head covered and both hands folded dedicated to God and Guru Sahib. No one is allowed to do whatever they want in this limit. Manohar Lal belongs to Punjabi origin and has a good knowledge about Sikh decorum. Despite this, it is very unfortunate that they deliberately hurt the sentiments of Sikhs.
