Haryana government bans mobile internet in Ambala villages amid farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has imposed a mobile internet ban in several villages of Ambala district from December 6 to 9 to maintain peace amid the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march. The ban restricts the transmission of bulk messages during this period.

The decision follows a letter from Ambala Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta to Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee chairman Sarwan Singh and BKU (Ekta Azad) state president Jaswinder Singh.

The letter read that the need for Delhi Police permission to hold a protest in the national capital on December 6.

The DC referenced a Supreme Court order from July 2024, which directed maintaining the status quo at the Shambhu border to prevent any untoward incidents. The court also urged both parties to resolve the matter through dialogue. A committee has been formed by the Supreme Court to facilitate discussions with all stakeholders.

The internet restrictions come as farmers intensify their protest against various issues, with authorities taking precautionary measures to avoid potential disruptions.
