New Delhi: After the Punjab government has cut down security cover of former Aam Aadmi Party leaders and now in BJP, including former Jalandhar MP Sushil Kumar Rinku, and former AAP MLA Sheetal Angural, the Centre has provided Y-category security to them.
Now 11 commandos will be deployed in their security.
Who get the security?
The government provides protection to people in the country who are in some form of danger. Security agencies assess the threat to an individual’s life and allocate security accordingly. Generally, there are five types of VVIP security provided in India, categorized as Z+, Z, Y+, Y, and X security cover.
1. Z+ Security
Z+ security is considered the highest level of security in India. It involves deploying more than 10 NSG commandos and 55 trained personnel, including police officers, around the individual. These commandos maintain constant surveillance around the clock and are skilled in martial arts. They are also equipped with modern weapons. Prominent figures such as PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat receive Z+ security.
2. Z Security
Following Z+, Z security is the next level of security. It involves deploying 22 personnel, including NSG commandos and police officers, around the person. The security is typically provided by Delhi Police, ITBP, or CRPF personnel. Notable individuals such as Baba Ramdev receive Z security.
3. Y+ Security
Y+ security is the next level of security after Z. It includes 11 security personnel, comprising commandos, PSOs, and policemen.
4. Y Security
Y category security provides 8 personnel including 1 or 2 commandos, police officers, and two Personal Security Officers (PSOs). Many individuals in India receive this level of protection.
5. X Security
X category security involves deploying 2 armed police personnel alongside the individual, provided by the Personal Security Officer. This category of security is widespread among people in India.
