IFS officer Jitendra Rawat dies by suicide in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri
New Delhi: A 35-year-old Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Jitendra Rawat, died by suicide in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on Friday morning. Police said Rawat jumped from the roof of the Ministry of External Affairs’ residential society, where he lived on the first floor.
Rawat, a resident of Uttarakhand, was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression. No suicide note was found, and police said no foul play was suspected. His mother was at home at the time, while his wife and two children live in Dehradun.
Following the incident, speculation arose regarding the cause of his suicide, with some suggesting family discord.
However, police stated that the reason for his death is still under investigation.
