Illicit drug trade a big challenge for India: Amit Shah
Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the illegal drug trade is not only a challenge for India but also a global issue. He stressed that the country can fight this menace only with determination and a strong strategy.
Addressing a meeting at a hotel in Chhattisgarh’s Nava Rajpur, Shah said there is a need to adopt four formulas — “drug discovery, network destruction, identification of culprits and rehabilitation of drug addicts — to root out drugs and deal with the menace”.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to make the country drug-free by 2047. I believe that the spirit of a drug-free India is very important in making the country prosperous, safe and wonderful.”
Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, also virtually inaugurated the zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Nava Rajpur.
